It may seem a great idea to put in all your landlord’s requests as special conditions into the lease.  However, any condition that is inconsistent with the Residential Tenancies Act 1995 can land you in hot water.  Not only will the condition be declared void, you could be up for a $10,000 fine.  The carpet cleaning clause is the obvious one but there are loads more.  This course looks at the 50 most common – and illegal – clauses that are commonly found in lease agreements.  How many of the 50 do you have?
